Original Illustration - Sunshine on my Shoulders (unframed)

$125.00

There is no doubt the midday sun is harsh and not a place to be but sometimes we forget to go outside in the earliest morning or very late afternoon when the sun is gentle and the rays of sunshine on our shoulders make us happy! The song, ‘Sunshine on my Shoulders’ by John Denver, co-written with Dick Kniss and Mike Taylor, inspired the title of this peace. It is a song I remember from my childhood, a gentle, reflective folk-pop ballad that captures Denver’s signature themes of nature, simplicity, and emotional connection. The song is about finding joy and comfort in life’s small, natural pleasures—like sunlight warming your shoulders. It’s an ode to the healing power of nature and the bittersweet beauty of fleeting moments and I hope this piece will impart a similar feeling and message to the viewer.

This is an original black ink illustration with painted yellow gouache on Bainbridge Illustration board. Illustration measures 8 × 12 cm on A5 board measuring approximately 14.8 × 21cm. This listing is for the unframed artwork only but please see separate listing for the framing option to be delivered as it appears in the first image. As this is an original ink and gouache illustration, it will need to be framed to protect the image. Artwork will suit a standard A5 frame or board can be trimmed to suit a 4 × 6 inch mat opening photo frame. Illustration is one of 25 tiny illustrations created for my ‘Yellow Sun’ exhibition, 2025.

Illustration will be carefully packaged and shipped with Australia Post.
