Today I asked myself,

“Can I paint happiness?”

“I’m not sure”, I replied, “ But perhaps.”

If I gather my happiest thoughts

And put on my happiest shoes.

Play the happiest music

And mix up the happiest hues.

I’ll think of my happiest friends

And search for my happiest smile

And dwell on my happiest memories

And sit in the sunshine a while.

I’ll paint some pink and some yellow

And maybe some green and some blue

Even amongst all the happiness

There’s often some dark patches too.

I’ll ponder the happiest subject

and paint while I sing and I play

And what’s on the page will not matter,

it will end up my happiest day.

This is a tiny original gouache painting on Bainbridge illustration board created in 2021 as part of a series of small paintings exploring the words of Florence Fingle . Painting will be signed, titled and dated in pencil beneath the painted area.

Painted area measures approx 150 x 150mm on illustration board measuring approx. 20 x 20cm.

Painting is unframed.

Painting will be carefully packaged and sent with tracking number through Australia Post.
